A strong run game fueling some of the best spread offenses in the country

The common perception of the spread offense is that teams want to pass all the time out of the formation.

Not everyone.

Some of the best teams running the spread actually run the ball more than they pass.

Oregon has been the catalyst for the run-first spread, ranking among the nation's leaders in total offense nearly every season.

Baylor, with the nation's best offense this season, actually passes more than it runs, but the ground game triggers everything the Bears do.

Some of the best running backs in the country come from spread offenses, too, including Arizona's Ka'Deem Carey, Washington's Bishop Sankey and Baylor's Lache Seastrunk.
