The Senate comes back at 2:00 p.m. ET to start the workweek. After morning business speeches the chamber will vote on a series of judicial nomination.

The real work on the Hill will be happening behind the scenes. Conferees from both chambers continue their work on merging the Wall St. reform bills. This will be the week when the tougher decisions on derivatives and the so-called “Volcker rules” on bank trading will be made.

The Senate will also continue its fight to pass an “extenders” bill that is still too expensive for many members. The legislation extends tax cuts and social spending, but Republicans and fiscally conservative Democrats feel like more of the bill’s provisions should be paid for.
