Riots rocked a French city for the second straight night Wednesday after the fatal police shooting of a driver apparently trying to avoid an identity check.
Protesters in Nantes, located about 235 miles west of Paris, clashed with police overnight into Thursday. Cars and stores were set on fire in the riots and 11 people were detained in connection with the violence.

Prime Minister Edouard Philippe condemned the violence and vowed full transparency into the investigation over the 22-year-old man’s death.
The man had been previously sought after for a year-old warrant over an alleged robbery south of Paris, and had given police a false identity when he was stopped in Nantes.

The man was shot after he had refused to listen to an officer’s orders and had hit another officer, according to BBC.
A silent march was planned Thursday over his death.
