Kabul Police: Explosion Reported in Afghan Capital

KABUL, Afghanistan – DEVELOPING: Police say an explosion has occurred inside a shopping and hotel complex in the Afghan capital. There was no immediate information about casualties.

Col. Baloch Orikhil, the director of criminal investigation for the Kabul police, says initial reports are that a suicide bomber detonated a cache of explosives Monday inside the building, which contains a shopping mall and hotel.

It's the first bombing in the capital since Jan. 28 when a suicide bomber blew himself up at an upscale Kabul supermarket, killing eight people.
