N.J. State Trooper Found Dead In Patrol Car

A police search in connection with the shooting of a New Jersey State trooper has been called off.

The Associated Press is reporting the trooper was found shot dead in a patrol car on the Garden State Parkway.The circumstances surrounding the death are unclear. An investigation is underway.

State Police say the shooting took place on the off-ramp to the southbound Garden State Parkway near Route 34 in Wall Township at around 7:30 a.m. An officer found the  trooper inside the vehicle.

Earlier reports indicated police were searching for a gunman believed to have fled the scene in a red Isuzu.

SkyFoxHD was over the state trooper's vehicle that appeared to have the driver-side window blown out. Pieces of glass lay on the ground.

The off-ramp at Exit 98/Route 34 on the southbound Garden State Parkway remains closed.
