Tokyo, Japan – Akira Yaegashi and Shinsuke Yamanaka retained their respective WBC titles Monday.
Yaegashi (18-3, 9 KOs) kept his flyweight crown with a unanimous decision over Oscar Blanquet. He won by scores of 116-110 on two cards and 115-111 on the other for his third straight victory. Blanquet (32-6-1) lost his second straight bout.
It was Yaegashi's first title defense following his victory over Japanese countryman Toshiyuki Igarashi in April.
Yamanaka (19-0-2, 14 KOs) didn't take long to stay undefeated, knocking out Jose Nieves at the 2:40 mark of the first round to remain bantamweight champ.
Nieves (22-3-3) had won five straight entering the fight.
Yamanaka has won each of his four title defenses since capturing the belt in November 2011.
