Wheelchair basketball game turns into violent brawl
From basketball to an all-out basket-brawl.
A massive fight that broke out at a wheelchair basketball tournament in Germany Saturday involved around 60 fans of two Turkish teams attacking each other with bats and knives, the BBC reports.
Police said none of the injuries between the Besiktas and Galatasaray fans were serious, but the match -- which was part of the European Champions Cup -- was canceled afterward.
The two Istanbul-based sports clubs are known for having a fierce rivalry, especially on the soccer field.
And Saturday’s brawl isn’t the first time a fight broke out at a wheelchair basketball game.
In 2012, 10 fans from both sides were arrested after a clash during a game in Istanbul where supporters sprayed fire extinguishers at each other, the BBC reports.
