Turin derby takes center stage in Serie A

Turin, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Juventus and Torino will renew their rivalry at Juventus Stadium on Sunday with the Old Lady attempting to continue its pursuit of a third straight Serie A title.

Juventus enters the weekend nine points clear of second-place Roma, which has a game in hand and will be expected to capture three more points against struggling Bologna on Saturday.

Riding a 16-match unbeaten streak in the league, Juve will be favored to continue that run, although the club is coming off of a 2-0 win over Trabzonspor in the Europa League on Thursday which will leave Torino as the fresher side.

Juventus downed Chievo, 3-1, in its last league outing, and the club will be hoping to keep a clean sheet for the first time in its last seven league encounters.

Torino finds itself in eighth place after winning three of its previous five matches and the club will be eyeing its first win over Juventus since 1995 after losing 1-0 at home to Juve in September.

Roma was bounced from the Coppa Italia by Napoli 10 days ago, but the capital club rebounded to down Sampdoria, 3-0, and will take that momentum to Bologna, which is two points above the bottom three.

Third-place Napoli eyes a third successive victory when the club hosts mid- table Genoa, while Fiorentina trails Napoli by six points and attempts to rebound from a 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan last weekend when the Viola visits Parma.

Inter is hoping to claim a third straight win when the club hosts bottom-half Cagliari, while Livorno climbed out of the relegation places with a 2-1 win at Cagliari last weekend and the club hopes to add to its total at home against Hellas Verona.

Catania is one point from safety and visits second-from-the-bottom Chievo in an important relegation battle, AC Milan lost 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday and aims to respond with three points at Sampdoria, Atalanta tangles with Udinese and Lazio entertains last-place Sassuolo.
