CASABLANCA, Morocco – Top-seeded Guillermo Garcia Lopez of Spain was upset by wild card Lamine Ouahab of Morocco in the second round of the Grand Prix Hassan II on Thursday.
The 313th-ranked Ouahab produced the biggest win of his career in front of his home crowd with a 6-3, 6-3 win over the defending champion to book his spot in the quarterfinals of the clay-court event.
Ouahab will next face Daniel Gimeno-Traver, who led 6-1, 4-1 when seventh-seeded Mikhail Kukushkin retired.
Also, third-seeded Jiri Vesely saved one set point at 4-5 in the opening set before coming out on top of his match against Mikhail Youzhny 7-6 (7), 6-3.
