Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tennessee Titans released safety Bernard Pollard on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old Pollard requested the release on the heels of a 2-14 season in which he tore his Achilles in October.

Pollard tweeted thanks to the fans of Nashville Monday night.

"Nashville it's been so much fun. Thank you to all the fans and people I've been blessed (to) meet. Great city, fans and food! #31 is out," he said.

Pollard posted 27 tackles and a sack in five games with the Titans last season. He has totaled 711 tackles, 12 interceptions and 10 1/2 sacks over his nine-year career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens and Titans.

In other news, Tennessee claimed outside linebacker Jonathan Massaquoi off waivers from the Atlanta Falcons. He tallied six sacks and 11 tackles for loss during his three-year, 39-game stint with Atlanta.
