Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Tennessee Titans have agreed to terms with defensive end Ropati Pitoitua on a multi-year contract.

The Tennessean reported Friday that the deal is for three years and is worth $9.6 million, with a signing bonus of $2.175 million.

Pitoitua recorded 44 tackles and four sacks in 16 games (13 starts) last season, his first with the Titans.

"Ropati came in last year and filled an important role for us," said Titans general manager Ruston Webster. "He has been productive and with the new coaching staff, we see him filling that same role for us moving forward. His size and length are qualities that benefit our defense and we are happy to have him back."

The Washington State product has 117 tackles and seven sacks in 53 career games with the Jets, Chiefs and Titans.

Pitoitua was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on March 11.
