When it comes to NASCAR, there are few things that elicit more emotion than numbers and paint schemes.
That is why Brad Keselowski's No. 2 Team Penske Ford is drawing so much attention this weekend at Michigan International Speedway.
Instead of the typical white-and-blue Miller Lite colors, Keselowski is running a throwback black-and-gold Miller Genuine Draft paint scheme made famous by NASCAR Hall of Fame driver Rusty Wallace from 1991 until 1995.
Not only is the car painted up like Wallace's iconic car, but Keselowski's racing suit is also a throwback to the MGD colors.
"It's an honor," Keselowski said of driving the famous colors. "There's never been a question I've been asked more since I started driving the 2 car than, 'When are you going to drive it with the black-and-gold MGD car?' Finally we can answer that."
On hand this weekend, Wallace is looking forward to seeing his old colors back on the track.
"It's going to make me feel real good, because they didn't doctor up the paint scheme or nothing," Wallace told FOXSports.com. "It's exactly how I had it. It won four races at Michigan, but that paint scheme won 10 races in '93."
Growing up in Rochester Hills, Mich., Keselowski was a Rusty Wallace fan. So being able to drive the car he rooted for as a child is extra special.
"I had the T-shirt," Keselowski said. "I wore it to my fourth-grade school picture."
