WIMBLEDON, England – Christina McHale of the United States reached the third round at Wimbledon by beating Mathilde Johanddon of France 7-5, 7-5 Thursday.
It's the fourth consecutive Grand Slam tournament where McHale made it this far. Now she'll try to get to the fourth round at a major for the first time.
The 28th-seeded McHale, a 20-year-old from Englewood Cliffs, N.J., struggled a bit to close out her second-round victory and acknowledged she is "still not finding my best tennis consistently."
Next up for the American is a match against eighth-seeded Angelique Kerber of Germany.
