The Seattle Seahawks have placed rookie linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis on injured reserve and claimed defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy off waivers from Indianapolis.

Seattle made the roster moves Friday. Coach Pete Carroll had hinted earlier in the week that a roster move could be on the horizon for Pierre-Louis, who had been dealing with a shoulder injury. Pierre-Louis had appeared in five games this season and had started to get more playing time in passing situations.

Purifoy was released by the Colts on Thursday after appearing in 11 games this season. The rookie was undrafted out of Florida in part to off-field problems. Purifoy was arrested for misdemeanor marijuana possession in February 2013, but the charge was later dropped by prosecutors. He pleaded no contest earlier this month in Florida to a marijuana possession charge.
