Being in charge of the NFL, like being in charge of the country, means that you're not always going to make everyone happy with the way you do your job. So what do people think about how Roger Goodell is doing?
Not so great, would be the answer.
According to a survey of self-described NFL fans conducted by Public Policy Polling, Goodell has a 28 percent job approval rating, with 42 percent disapproving and 30 percent unsure. It's even worse when respondents were asked if they had a favorable or unfavorable opinion of the commissioner -- 19 percent thumbs-up, 40 percent thumbs-down, 40 percent not sure.
How does that stack up against President Barack Obama? According to the most recent Gallup Poll, Obama's approval rating is 47 percent, disapproval 50 percent and no opinion 3 percent. But Goodell rates a lot higher than Congress, which has only a 16 percent approval mark, 80 percent disapproval, 4 percent not sure.
Just like in a lot of politics, it seems Goodell could target the undecideds.
