Boston, MA – The Boston Red Sox will have a press conference on Tuesday to announce Ben Cherington as the team's executive vice president and general manager.
Cherington will take over the responsibilities of the departed Theo Epstein, who left Boston to become president of baseball operations for the Chicago Cubs earlier this month.
The 37-year-old Cherington has been the assistant general manager of the Red Sox since 2009 and has also served as a scout, assistant director of player development and vice president of player personnel. Additionally, he spent three months as co-general manager in 2005 when Epstein left the Red Sox before deciding to return.
