Raiders flew to New Jersey on Thursday to prepare for second straight opener in Eastern time zone, where they have lost 13 straight overall. Game marks fourth time in five years that Oakland opens away from home. ... Derek Carr, second-round pick out of Fresno State, gets nod over veteran Matt Schaub and is 18th starting quarterback for Raiders since start of 2003 season. Carr completed 66.7 percent of his passes with four TDs, one INT and 108.2 passer rating. Sealed starting job when he threw three TD passes in exhibition finale against Seattle last week. ... QB Geno Smith gets second straight Week 1 start after retaining job despite team signing Michael Vick in offseason. Threw 12 TD passes and 21 INTs, but set team rookie records for yards passing (3,046), attempts (443), completions (247), and completion rate (55.8 percent). ... WR Eric Decker and RB Chris Johnson signed with Jets as free agents. Decker was one of only five players to record 80-plus catches, 1,000-plus yards and 10-plus TDs in each of past two seasons with Denver.
