PSV Eindhoven scored early and late at the Philips Stadion on Saturday to retain first place in the Eredivisie with a 2-0 defeat of Venlo.

Memphis Depay opened the scoring in the third minute of play while Mark Van Bommel struck on the stroke of full time to lift PSV to 53 points for the season.

The club remains two points clear at the top of the table, ahead of Ajax after the Amsterdam club picked up a 2-0 win over Twente on Saturday. Niklas Moisander put Ajax in front in the fourth minute before Toby Alderweireld doubled the club's advantage just after the half-hour mark.

Also on Saturday, Zwolle claimed a 2-0 win as Arsenio Valpoort and Mateusz Klich scored three minutes apart to dispatch Willem II and Alfred Finnbogason bagged a brace in Heerenveen's 2-1 defeat of NAC.
