The Pittsburgh Pirates selected the contract of first baseman Jeff Clement from Bradenton of the Florida State League on Monday.

Clement had been sent to Bradenton on Friday after going hitless in six at- bats over five games with the Pirates.

A four-year veteran, he has batted .220 with 14 homers and 38 RBI over 134 games with Seattle and Pittsburgh.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Clement, the team designated outfielder Oscar Tejeda for assignment.
