Youngstown, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Former Nebraska football coach Bo Pelini is expected to be named Youngstown State's new head coach, according to a report.

FootballScoop.com said Pelini has been verbally offered the position and plans to accept it.

Pelini is a Youngstown native who will turn 47 on Saturday. He went 67-27 with the Cornhuskers over the last sever seasons, but was fired after going 9-3 this year. He will not coach them in their bowl game.

He would replace Eric Wolford, who was fired by Youngstown State with a 31-26 record after five seasons, including 7-5 this year.

Youngstown State won four FCS (then NCAA Division I-AA) national championships between 1991 and '97 under former coach Jim Tressel, now the school's president.
