The New England Patriots have re-signed running back LeGarrette Blount two days after he was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Blount spent last season with the Patriots before signing a two-year contract with the Steelers. Pittsburgh cut him on Tuesday the day after he jogged toward the tunnel with time on the clock as Ben Roethslisberger lined up for the final snap in a 27-24 win over the Tennessee Titans.

This season, Blount ran for 266 yards and two touchdowns but was on the field for just one play Monday night.

Last year, he rushed for 772 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season. In the postseason against Indianapolis he had 166 yards and four touchdowns rushing.

The Patriots also released defensive lineman Casey Walker.
