Baltimore, MD – The Baltimore Orioles recalled pitcher Zach A Norfolk Wednesday.
The move was made after Baltimore traded pitcher Michael Gonzalez to the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later earlier Wednesday.
Phillips was acquired July 19 from Texas in exchange for infielder Nick Green and cash considerations.
The 24-year-old left-hander has yet to make an appearance in the majors and has a combined 2-4 record with a 4.01 earned run average in 47 games for Norfolk and Round Rock this year.
The Orioles also optioned pitcher Mark Hendrickson to Norfolk. left-hander Mike Ballard was outrighted to Double-A Bowie and right-hander Mitch Atkins was outrighted to Norfolk.
