No. 5 Syracuse opens season with win over Fordham

Syracuse, NY – Kris Joseph had 16 points, Dion Waiters scored ranked Syracuse Orange opened the 2011-12 campaign with a 53 victory over the Fordham Rams at the Carrier Dome.

Brandon Triche finished with nine points, seven rebounds and three assists for Syracuse (1-0), which compiled a 27-8 record last season and lost to Big East foe Marquette in the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Chris Gaston and Bryan Smith both scored 13 points for the Rams (0-1), who have lost their last 54 games against ranked opponents.
