Marvin Jordan scored 27 points and Anthony Nelson recorded a triple-double as Niagara defeated Marist 77-60 Sunday, ending a seven-game losing streak.

Nelson averages 15.8 points a game, but scored only 10. Nevertheless, the 6-foot-1 senior guard kept busy with 14 assists and 10 rebounds as the Purple Eagles (5-20, 2-11 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) won for the first time since defeating Siena on Jan. 9.

Dorvell Carter led the Red Foxes (4-21, 3-10) with 20 points, and made 8 of 13 shots from the field while doing it. But his teammates combined to make only 12 of 40 shots and Marist shot 37.7 percent (20 of 53) as a team, suffering its eighth consecutive defeat.

Kashief Edwards had 14 points for Niagara, which shot 49.2 percent, including an even better 52 percent from 3-point range, where they made 13 of 25 shots. Jordan made seven 3-pointers in 10 tries.
