Napoli and Fiorentina failed to keep pace with Juventus in the race for the Serie A title on Sunday, settling for a point apiece in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

With Juventus picking up three points in convincing fashion on Saturday, there was added pressure for Napoli and Fiorentina to gain maximum points in order to stay within touching distance of the Serie A leaders.

Fiorentina made the better start of the two sides with Facundo Roncaglia opening the scoring in the 33rd minute of Sunday's affair.

But Napoli answered before the break as Edinson Cavani struck in the 42nd with his league-leading 17th goal of the campaign.

The result does not do a great deal for either side as they slip further away from first-place Juventus.

Napoli, which entered Sunday's tilt on a three-game winning streak in Serie A play, improves to 43 points but slips five points adrift of the Bianconeri.

Fiorentina snaps a two-game skid with the draw to move to 36 points on the season.

AC Milan 2, Bologna 1

Milan, Italy - Giampaolo Pazzini's brace helped AC Milan to a 2-1 win over Bologna at the San Siro on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, Pazzini put Milan in pole position with goals in the 63rd and 82nd minutes, while an 83rd-minute own goal from Philippe Mexes brought visiting Bologna back into the match.

Milan was able to close out the match to improve to 34 points and leave Bologna, which has lost three of its last four league games, on 21 points.

Inter Milan 1, Roma 1

Rome, Italy - Roma put the brakes on a brief two-game losing streak in Serie A play on Sunday, settling for a 1-1 draw with Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico.

The home side opened the scoring when Michael Bradley was taken down in the penalty area by Inter's Andrea Ranocchia. Francesco Totti stepped up to the spot in the 22nd minute and buried it into the top left corner for the 1-0 lead.

Inter equalized in first-half stoppage time through Rodrigo Palacio, who slotted one past Roma netminder Mauro Goicoechea with a superb right-footed strike.

The result leaves Roma in seventh place with 33 points, while Inter remains in fourth on 39 points.

Torino 2, Pescara 0

Pescara, Italy - Torino rode two first-half goals to a 2-0 defeat of Pescara at the Stadio Adriatico on Sunday.

Mario Santana opened the scoring in the third minute while Alessio Cerci's strike five minutes before the break helped Torino extend its unbeaten streak in Serie A play to five games.

Pescara, which had Vladimir Weiss sent off 10 minutes from time, has lost two in a row to remain on 20 points.

Atalanta 1, Cagliari 1

Bergamo, Italy - Atalanta's winless streak in league play was extended to five games as the club was held to a 1-1 home draw by Cagliari on Sunday.

Michele Canini's own goal gifted visiting Cagliari the lead inside the opening minute, but it was Guglielmo Stendardo's strike on the other side of halftime that helped Atalanta salvage a point at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

Atalanta, which improves to 23 points, also had Luigi Giorgi sent off in the 79th minute. Cagliari moves three points clear of the relegation zone with 20 points from 21 matches.

Catania 2, Genoa 0

Genoa, Italy - Catania scored early and late in a 2-0 defeat of Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Sunday.

Gonzalo Bergessio put the visitors in front in just the fourth minute of play while Pablo Barrientos wrapped up the affair five minutes from time, helping Catania win its second straight league contests to climb to 32 points.

Genoa has lost two successive Serie A matches to stay third from bottom in Italy's top flight with 17 points.

Chievo 1, Parma 1

Verona, Italy - Chievo and Parma exchanged goals on opposite sides of halftime to split the points in a 1-1 draw at the Stadio M.A. Bentegodi on Sunday.

Ishak Belfodil struck at the ideal time, bagging his sixth Serie A goal of the season to give visiting Parma the lead five minutes before the break. But Chievo answered after the restart thanks to Alberto Paloschi, who equalized in the 55th minute to earn his side a share of the spoils.

Parma is unbeaten in its last five league games and improves to 31 points on the season, six points better than Chievo.

Siena 1, Sampdoria 0

Siena, Italy - Siena snapped a six-game slide in Serie A play on Sunday, earning a 1-0 win over Sampdoria at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Erjon Bogdani produced the lone goal of the affair, scoring in the 71st minute to see Siena move to within six points of safety. Giuseppe Iachini's men remain at the foot of the table on 14 points.

Sampdoria entered the match having taken four points from its last two games, but that positive run comes to an end as the club stays put on 21 points.
