The Carolina Hurricanes will try again to get Kirk Muller game road trip with this evening's stop at Calgary's Saddledome.

The Hurricanes have lost six straight overall and are 0-3 since Muller took over for the fired Paul Maurice. Carolina has also lost nine of its last 11 tilts and is last in the Eastern Conference with just 20 points on the year.

Muller's tenure began with a three-game homestand, but Carolina was outscored by a combined 11-6 margin in losing encounters with the Panthers, Rangers and Penguins. The Pittsburgh game was the most recent and closest loss during the residency, as the 'Canes dropped a 3-2 decision to the Pens on Saturday.

Jamie McBain netted both goals for Carolina, while Brian Boucher made 37 saves in the loss.

After a pair of penalties by Pittsburgh late in the game, the Hurricanes pulled Boucher to give themselves a 6-on-3, but they couldn't capitalize on the advantage.

"Give Pitt credit, they did a good job of shotblocking," Muller said after the game.

Carolina, which will also make stops in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto on this swing, is just 3-7-2 as the visiting club this season.

The Flames are coming off a blowout loss on Sunday, as the Canucks notched a 5-1 home victory by recording five unanswered goals.

"We just completely turned off the switch and got away from everything that made us successful," said Flames forward Lee Stempniak. "(We) really struggled and then embarrassed ourselves the last two periods."

Henrik Karlsson gave up all five goals on 32 shots before suffering a leg injury in the third period. Miikka Kiprusoff stopped the only four shots he faced in the final 13-plus minutes.

Karlsson, who is 0-4-1 on the year, was placed on injured reserve Monday and Leland Irving was recalled from Abbotsford of the AHL to serve primarily as Kiprusoff's backup.

The Flames have a 5-5-2 home record this year and will also host Colorado on Thursday before heading out on a four-game road trip of their own.

Carolina has taken two of the last three encounters with the Flames, but Calgary has four wins over the previous six meetings. The Flames have also claimed the last three matchups in Calgary.
