Morelia, Mexico – Jaime Lozano and Edgar Lugo scored in the 1, to capture the first leg of their semifinal series in the Mexican Apertura playoffs.
Lozano scored the opener after 13 minutes on a shot from well outside the area and Lugo doubled Morelia's lead off a header with just 25 minutes gone.
Oribe Peralta pulled a goal back 6 minutes from time, as Santos escaped with a crucial late goal at Estadio Morelos.
Santos hosts the second leg Saturday.
Queretaro hosts Tigres in the first leg of their semifinal series Thursday.
