COLUMBIA, Mo. – An attorney for Frank Haith says the Missouri men's basketball coach has asked the NCAA to throw out misconduct charges in Miami.
The NCAA says then-Miami coach Haith gave an assistant coach money to buy booster Nevin Shapiro's silence over alleged recruiting violations, rather than report Shapiro's shakedown attempt to university leaders.
Miami has made a similar legal request. So has former Hurricanes football assistant Aubrey Hill and former Haith assistants Jorge Fernandez and Jake Morton.
The former coaches are all citing the NCAA's admitted investigative missteps when its employees improperly sought to pay Shapiro's lawyer for help.
Miami faces a charge of lack of institutional control, while the three assistants are charged with ethical conduct violations.
