Florence, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Fiorentina has completed the signing of striker Alessandro Matri on loan from AC Milan, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
Matri, 29, heads to Florence after struggling to find the net for Milan in his second spell at the San Siro. He scored just one goal in 18 appearances for Milan and will look to revitalize his career at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, as Fiorentina aim to keep pace in the race for a Champions League place.
Matri's arrival will help fill a void up front for La Viola, who lost leading scorer Giuseppe Rossi to a knee injury in the club's 1-0 win over Livorno on Jan. 5.
"I'm good. Regardless of how much I've played over the last six months, I've always trained. I'm fit and ready to play," Matri told Fiorentina's official website. "I'm here now and on a personal level I'm determined to prove myself and score lots of goals."
