Manning sets single-season TD passes record

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Peyton Manning set the single-season NFL touchdown passes record on Sunday with No. 51.

Manning threw for four touchdowns against the Houston Texans and broke Tom Brady's record of 50 touchdown passes for the New England Patriots in 2007.

Three of Manning's touchdown passes came in the fourth quarter -- two to Eric Decker and the record-breaker to tight end Julius Thomas with 4:28 remaining.

Manning held the previous record of 49 -- set with the Indianapolis Colts in 2004 -- before Brady broke it as part of a high-octane New England offense in 2007. Randy Moss had an NFL-record 23 touchdown catches that season for the Patriots.

Manning threw for 400 yards in Sunday's game, going over 5,000 in a season for the first time in his career. He has passed for 5,211 yards this season.

The Broncos (12-3) won the game 37-13 and clinched the AFC West title.
