B.A. Davis put Lambuth ahead on a 4-yard run with 2:27 left and Darius Buckley's 37-yard interception return for a touchdown 18 seconds later clinched a 23-14 victory over Georgia State on Saturday.

Without a first down at halftime, Georgia State (1-1) took the lead at the end of the third quarter on a 39-yard halfback pass from Roosevelt Watson to Danny Sawyer. That followed a 2-yard TD run by Travis Evans after Kelton Hill's 53-yard quarterback run.

Marquis Williams, who had 149 yards rushing on 17 carries, scored on a 23-yard run to cap a 70-yard drive by Lambuth (1-1) following the game's opening kickoff, and the NAIA Eagles (1-1) added a 42-yard Nate O'jibway field goal late in the second quarter for a 9-0 lead.

The Panthers, who had four passes intercepted and finished with five first downs, beat Shorter 41-7 in their first-ever football game on Sept. 2.
