Grizzlies crush Pelicans

Memphis, TN (SportsNetwork.com) - An impressive shooting performance helped the Memphis Grizzlies earn a 110-74 win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday.

The Grizzlies shot 51.1 overall, 47.1 from 3-point range and hit 12-of-14 from the free throw line for their third win in four games.

"We played with a lot of pace," said Memphis coach David Joerger. "The ball was moving, and guys got up and down the floor. That was fantastic for us."

Memphis had six players reach double-figures, led by Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Jeff Green scoring 15 apiece. Randolph added 13 rebounds and six assists.

The Pelicans lost for the second time in three games and dropped into a tie for eighth in the Western Conference with idle Oklahoma City.

"This is a game that they needed, and they played with a great deal of desperation," said Pelicans coach Monty Williams. "We looked a bit tired out there."

New Orleans shot just 35 percent and were led by Anthony Davis' 12 points.

Memphis led 27-24 after one quarter and blew the game open in the second. The Pelicans were just 5-of-23 in the period and had just 12 points. Beno Udrih scored the first five points of the quarter, and Tyreke Evans was the only Pelican to score in the final four minutes of the half as Memphis took a 55-36 lead into the break.

The Grizzlies' offense continued to dominate in the third and ran their lead to 29 points with a 6-0 run near the end of the period. They led 81-55 entering the fourth and emptied their bench.

Despite facing Memphis' reserves, New Orleans fell behind by as many as 40 in the final quarter when Jordan Adams hit a 3 to cap a 7-0 run with 3:10 remaining. The Grizzlies' bench scored 27 points in the quarter.

The teams split the season series, 2-2 ... The Grizzlies won 30 home games for the third time in franchise history ... Memphis improved to 22-1 when hitting as many or more 3s as its opponent ... The Pelicans fell to 9-10 in the second half of back-to-back games this season.
