San Francisco, CA – The San Francisco Giants activated day disabled list Thursday.
Whiteside was placed on the DL August 19 with a concussion.
The 31-year-old was thrust into the starting role after Buster Posey's season- ending leg injury and has hit .221 with four homers and 16 RBI in 66 games this season.
To make room on the roster, catcher Hector Sanchez was optioned to Class-A advanced San Jose.
