German athlete tests positive at Sochi Olympics in the 1st doping case of the 2014 Games

SOCHI, Russia – The German Olympic Committee says it has been notified that one of its athletes has failed a doping test at the Sochi Games. It is the first announced positive case of these Olympics.

The athlete was not identified.

The committee says in a statement that it was informed Thursday night by the International Olympic Committee that the athlete had a positive test on the "A'' sample. The backup "B'' sample will be analyzed Friday.
