Stephen Gangluff carded his second straight 4- under 66 on Sunday to win the season-opening Times Colonist Island Savings Open.

Gangluff finished four rounds at Uplands Golf Club at 11-under-par 269 to capture his third career win on the Canadian Tour.

Tyler Aldridge (69) could have forced a playoff with a birdie at the 18th hole, but closed with a bogey instead to finish in second at 9-under.

Riley Wheeldon (67) captured third at minus-7, while third-round leader David Skinns tripped to a 4-over 74 during his final round to finish in a share of fourth place with Devin Carrey (68), Nick Taylor (70) and Matt Marshall (72) at 6-under.

Gangluff entered the day three strokes off the pace of Skinns and traded a birdie at the first with a bogey at the second to remain there.

But he would not drop another shot on the day and used the overnight leader's struggles to vault to the top of the leaderboard.

The American picked up a pair of shots at the seventh and eighth to hit the turn at 9-under, and then snapped a streak of seven straight pars from the eighth with a birdie at the 16th.

Gangluff closed with a birdie at the last to head into the clubhouse with a lead he would not relinquish.

NOTES: Gangluff collected $27,000 with the win ... The Canadian Tour heads to Alberta next week for the ATB Financial Classic, where Michael Gligic defeated Marshall on the second playoff hole to earn his first Canadian Tour victory last year.
