Roma continued to stay busy on transfer deadline day as the club added Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago on loan.

Having already signed midfielder Miralem Pjanic to a four-year contract and added defender Simon Kjaer on loan on Wednesday, the capital club acquired Gago from Real, with an eye toward a permanent move.

The 25-year-old has made over 90 appearances for Real since joining from Boca Juniors in 2007, but he has struggled to get into the first team in the past few seasons, and cab become a Roma player on permanent basis for a fee of $8.5 million after the season.
