Philadelphia, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers re-signed goaltender Michael Leighton on Sunday.
Leighton, 31, helped lead the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010 before ultimately falling to the Chicago Blackhawks. In 14 playoff games in 2010, Leighton was 8-3 with a 2.46 goals against average, a .916 save percentage and three shutouts.
Following the playoff run, the Flyers re-upped Leighton, but he spent most of the last two seasons playing for the club's AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, where he made an All-Star team in 2012.
The journeyman netminder has appeared with four teams in seven NHL seasons and owns a 35-40-14 career record, along with a 2.95 GAA and a .902 save percentage.
The Flyers traded last year's backup, Sergei Bobrovsky, to the Columbus Blue Jackets on June 22.
