Melbourne, Australia (SportsNetwork.com) - Roger Federer dropped just seven games in a third-round win Saturday over Teymuraz Gabashvili at the Australian Open.
Federer, seeded No. 6, fired six aces in the 101-minute match but converted just five of his 14 break points.
The four-time champion won 87 percent of his first-serve points in the 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Gabashvili double-faulted five times and had 33 unforced errors to just 27 winners.
Federer, 32, who won four Australian Open titles between 2004-10, will face either 10th-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga or No. 18 Gilles Simon in the fourth round.
In their only other meeting, Federer lost nine games while beating Gabashvili in the first round at Wimbledon in 2007.
In another third-round match, Stephane Robert beat Martin Klizan, 6-0, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 in 105 minutes.
No. 1 Rafael Nadal and fourth-seeded Andy Murray are also in action Saturday.
