Lisbon, Portugal – FC Porto has purchased the full rights to Argentinian defender Nicolas Otamendi from former club Velez Sarsfield, it was announced Tuesday.
Otamendi, 23, joined FC Porto last summer and purchased half of his contract. A member of Argentina's 2010 World Cup team, he helped FC Porto win the Europa League, as well as the Portuguese league and cup titles.
FC Porto completed the purchase for $5.7 million.
