TOLEDO, Ohio – Brandon Bowdry had 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Eastern Michigan to a 71-48 win over Toledo in the Mid American Conference opener for both teams on Saturday night.
The Eagles led by double-digits the final 13 minutes of the game and closed with a 13-3 run over the final 5:51.
Darrell Lampley added 14 points and Kamil Janton had 10 for the Eagles (4-10), who won their second game in a row. It was their third consecutive win in the series.
Toledo made only seven field goals in the second half and shot 36 percent (18 of 50) for the game. Eastern Michigan shot 39.3 percent (24 of 61).
Freshman Reese Holliday had his third double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Rockets (3-12), who have lost three games in a row. The Rockets are averaging 43 points during the streak. Malcolm Griffin led Toledo with 14 points and Delino Dear added 10.
