After two years away from the Los Angeles Dodgers organization, utility man Elian Herrera reportedly will return to the Blue Crew.
Herrera recently announced on his Twitter page that he has been acquired by the Dodgers after two seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers.
The news, which has yet to be officially announced by the Dodgers, was confirmed in a report by SB Nation that revealed that Herrera was reportedly acquired on a minor-league contract.
Herrera, who will turn 31 in February, was originally signed as an amateur free agent by the Dodgers in 2003 at age 18 out of the Dominican Republic.
After nearly a decade in the organization, the switch-hitting Herrera made his debut with the Dodgers' major-league club in 2012, and hit .251/.336/.328 with one home run, 17 RBI and four stolen bases in 71 games from 2012 to 2013.
After the 2013 season, he was acquired by the Brewers off waivers. In two seasons in Milwaukee, Herrera hit .253/.289/.376 with seven home runs and 38 RBI in a collective 152 games.
While Herrera likely won't have much of an offensive impact on the Dodgers, he adds defensive depth to the organization, as he is capable of playing every position on the field other than first base and catcher.
