London, England – Clint Dempsey completed a move to Tottenham on Friday in the final hours before the close of the transfer window, signing a three-year contract with Spurs.
Dempsey was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, but the Reds were unable to agree a fee with Fulham for the American, who moves to White Hart Lane for a reported fee of $9.5 million.
The 29-year-old is the all-time leading scorer for Fulham in the Premier League, totaling 60 goals in 224 appearances.
Tottenham was busy on deadline day, adding goalkeeper Hugo Lloris from Lyon while seeing midfielder Rafael van der Vaart move to Hamburg and forward Giovani dos Santos depart for Mallorca.
