D-backs assign 6 to minors, including Banda

PHOENIX -- The Diamondbacks trimmed their spring roster to 53 Tuesday by assigning six players to the minor leagues.

Starting pitcher Anthony Banda, their top-rated prospect, and reliever Jimmie Sherfy were optioned to Triple-A Reno; infielder Dawel Lugo was optioned to Double-A Jackson; and pitchers Frank Duncan, Daniel Gibson and Jared Miller were reassigned to minor-league camp.
