Cubs place Putnam on DL

Chicago, IL – The Chicago Cubs placed pitcher Zach Putnam on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow soreness and recalled pitcher Brooks Raley from Triple-A Iowa.

Putnam has no record and an 18.90 ERA in five relief appearances with the Cubs this season.

Raley was 5-4 with a 4.92 ERA in 13 appearances (12 starts) with Iowa this season. The left-hander made his big league debut with the club last August and went 1-2 with an 8.14 ERA in five starts.
