Cloud keeps IBF title in controversial split decision
Corpus Christi, TX – Undefeated IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud retained his title Saturday night with a close split decision over Gabriel Campillo.
Cloud (24-0) won on two scorecards 116-110 and 114-112 and lost on the third, 111-115.
Campillo (21-4-1) fought back after being knocked down twice in the first round. He controlled the rest of the fight, but the former WBA light heavyweight champion was robbed in the eyes of some observers.
Twitter erupted after the match with fighters saying they felt Campillo was the winner.
"Campillo won fight," Bernard Hopkins tweeted after the bout.
Campillo, upset with the decision, made it clear that he wants a rematch.
