Now, Kim Clijsters' career in women's doubles is over, too.

A day after exiting the U.S. Open in singles, Clijsters and her Belgian partner, Kirsten Flipkens, fell 6-3, 6-4 to Chuang Chia-jung and Zhang Shuai in the first round of women's doubles Thursday.

Clijsters, a three-time champion at Flushing Meadows, announced this year's U.S. Open would be her last professional tournament. She lost 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5) to Laura Robson on Wednesday, snapping her 22-match winning streak in singles.

Clijsters is teaming with Bob Bryan in mixed doubles. Their first-round match is Friday against Irina Falconi and Steve Johnson.
