Manchester, England – Manchester City captain and defender 0 Europa League defeat to Sporting Lisbon and will likely be sidelined two weeks.
The 25-year-old Belgian international suffered a calf injury, and although an initial diagnosis from coach Roberto Mancini made the problem seem minor, the exact nature of the injury will be determined in the next couple days.
"We have to wait one or two days to know the exact extent of his injury, but it is a problem with his calf," said Mancini.
"I hope to have Kompany back in 10 days or two weeks."
Kompany has been one of the best players for the Premier League leaders this season, but he would now miss this weekend's league match against Swansea City and the second leg against Sporting Lisbon and possibly more games.
