Celtic eases past 10-man Aberdeen

Celtic scored on either side of the intermission on Saturday to roll to a comfortable 2-0 win over 10-man Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium.

Aberdeen kept pace with the champions for most of the opening half, but were dealt a blow in the final moments of the first period when Jamie Langfield was shown his marching orders.

Celtic promptly took advantage as Kris Commons scored in first-half stoppage time to send his side into the break with the lead.

The Hoops then wrapped it up three minutes from time through a goal by James Forrest.

The result gives Celtic six points from their first two matches this season, while Aberdeen remains on six points after winning their first two fixtures.

Elsewhere in Scotland on Saturday, Stuart Armstrong and Scott Robertson traded goals as Hibernian and Dundee United played to a 1-1 draw at Easter Road, while Rickie Foran and William McKay scored first-half goals for Inverness in a 2-0 win over Motherwell.

Nigel Hasselbaink, David Wotherspoon, Steve May and Dave MacKay all found the back of the net for St Johnstone in a 4-0 hammering of Ross County, and in Saturday's final match, Kris Boyd and Gary Harkins exchanged goals as St Mirren and Kilmarnock played to a 1-1 stalemate at St.Mirren Park.
