John Holland scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Boston University to an 88-78 win over Maine in America East Conference play on Tuesday night.

The Terriers (11-13, 6-4) led 40-32 at halftime and extended their lead to as many as 19, 78-59, in the second thanks to a 61.5-percent second-half shooting performance (16 of 26).

Darryl Partin scored 17, D.J. Irving added 16, Dom Morris 12 and Matt Griffin 11 for Boston, which finished 31 of 59 from the field overall (52.5 percent), including 11 of 23 from 3-point range (47.8 percent).

Maine (14-8, 8-2) trailed 86-69 after a 3-pointer from Holland with 3:13 left to play and scored nine straight to close the deficit to 86-78 with 40 seconds to go.

Troy Barnies had 26 points and 10 rebounds for the Black Bears, who had their seven-game winning streak snapped. Gerald McLemore added 17 points and Raheem Singleton 13.
