Bartoli lands in New Haven quarters

Wimbledon semifinalist Marion Bartoli was a set second-round winner Wednesday at the $618,000 New Haven Open tennis event, a final U.S. Open tuneup.

The fourth-seeded Bartoli, of France, snuck past Czech veteran Klara Zakopalova 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 on the hardcourts at Yale University. Bartoli will face another Czech, Petra Cetkovska, in Thursday's quarterfinals here.
